Why do you need a local guide?

We got questions of how to go from A to B in Taiwan quite often.
Honestly, there could never be a right answer, but only a best one for you.
Trip planning is a similar story.
Everyone has different interests and is willing to take different ways to complete one trip.

For example, some just want to achieve the milestone of cycling around Taiwan and they do not really care much about what they see or who they meet one the way.
Then this photo below should represent most of your journey along the road.
And then your meomory would probably be "Taiwan is boring, especially the west coast, only urban scenes and not much to see, boring! The sun is fxxking hot and never ride in summer again!"

However, if you have planned well or having a local guide who can show you more than what it is and tell you stories behind.
Then passing through a city from a different angle would be more like this photo below.
And I will let you tell me how your experience is in Taiwan! ^_^
